Hiya,
Im on the hunt for people who are in the central Scotland area??
Ive been to Carron Valley a few times and have been looking for people not too scared to do night rides there during the winter

As well as that I am just generally in search of people who get out in this area (Im Bonnybridge)....I am prob going to try Stirling Bike Club as they seem very nice. But I would love to beable to just push the bike out the door and go for a ride and not always have to stick it on my car....

Any offers?? :D

Hi, I don't live that near to you but here's what I'm up to in the next few weeks.

2 of us going to Innerleithen red route this Sunday.

Then several of us going to Wolftrax at Laggan 2 Sundays after that to meet the Balleter MTB Club there.

You're welcome to meet up with us at either place.

We're a friendly bunch of DHers who secretly also ride XC.

The Balleter lot are a friendly bunch of XCers who may secretly also ride DH.

There's plenty of stops and no-one gets left behind.

Please don't leave us behind if you're the quickest.

Bonnybridge? What's Drum Wood in High Bonnybridge like? Horse riders site says new paths are being created there in 2008. OS map shows paths around Jawcraigs, Darnrigg, California - which must be "out your back door".
  • Hi Alphaanne,

I'm a member of the Stirling bike Club - good bunch of folks that do a huge mix of riding - female-only rides on Monday night with good attendance through to regular (tuesday and thursday) evening rides plus weekend MTB rides...the road riding is almost as frequent. The MTB rep for the club lives in Dunipace and I'm sure he would be able to point you in loads of directions for night rides. I'm a new dad so time is somewhat stretched just now, but drop me a line and I'll try and get you in contact with folk who could help with rides and stuff...I'd be up for a night ride of you fancied it - but it's been 4 months since my last bike ride so it would be slow to begin with...Tuesday nights are looking like a 'free' night for me to start biking again...

    Cheers.

  • Wow thanks folks....Ive not been MTBing all that long and really appreciate how nice everyone is.

Hucking Fell, thakn you so much for the invite...My cars not really upto long journeys with my bike on the back of it, its very small and unstable when carrying bike rack...however it is for sale and hopefully will be replaced with something more mtb friendly very soon which would allow me to get to GT etc :D

And for the same reason Im not sure Ill make it to SBC on monday as Id hoped :( I thought my car was sold today but guy let me down so am still struggling to get my bike from A to B.
Thank you very much Dick, I am thinking that I might be being foolhardy with my plan to do night rides as Ive not got a great skill level but heyho....Theres only one way to learn and Itll be a laugh scaring myself silly!!

    Thanks again :D

  • Drop me an email...I may be able to convince you to try the ladies night on Monday as it is a real help and social event...emphasis is on riding your bike and enjoying it.

What kind of car do you have? Will the bike fit in the boot?

  •

Dont think id even fit one of those tiny wheeled fold up bikes in my boot!! Its an Mx5....fun but not very practical for my new found love of MTBs

I rekon the Mon night sounds pretty good....there is an outside chance i might have a diff car by then.....?? Wana buy an mx5??

Quite new to this forum business too.....how would i get an email to you? Sorry.... :?

  • MX5 - nice car to drive but not something a bloke should own unless it is for a track day!

Email button should be at the bottom right of my forum messages - says something like Profile Email and WWW - click on Email and it should send an email (once you have typed it).

Car rack does sit on a MX5 but it can wobble quite a bit...nice car but you are right - not ideal for MTBing...what are you looking at getting next?
