Winter fashion for riding to work.......

I am asking the question and hoping for one sensible answer before this descends into male-driven women in lycra/chiffon/evening wear on bikes chaos..... (some hope I know)
I am currently wearing cycling shorts and baggies for my ride to work. Arriving to be greeted by HUNDREDS of pupils dressed like that is okay....
Last week it was a bit chilly and I wore my winter cycling tights with good comfy pad and I realised when walking through school to shower when I got there (the other end of the school from where I park my bike) that they are really not a good look.
It's a long ride and I am really not so vain, but I have a little dignity to preserve, so any suggestions?

How about full length cycling trousers?, something like this -> http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=19051'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Either baggies with tights or baggies with knee socks in an array of different colours and patterns (this is what I do - lots of choice in the likes of Topshop/H&M at the moment). Two days running people have complimented me on the socks...
Depending on how long your baggies are you may want to get knee warmers too.0 -
When I was at school the site of my more attractive female teachers in lycra tights would have made me very happy.0

I wear baggies with tights - if only to hide my gut

Thanks for that they look good. Do I just wear my lycra shorts underneath? And do I therefore need a bigger size than normal?Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome0 -

I have always had a bit of a desire to dress inappropriately for any given activity so I'll see what I can do.
Do they do that dress in size 20+ do you reckon?Emerging from under a big black cloud. All help welcome0 -

Yes.
You could always wear "Bondio daydream" clothing until you get near the school, then whip out the ball gown (or a pair of big, asexual, baggy shorts) when in view of the little darlings.0 -
I am still in shorts, undershorts and a tee shirt + arm warmers - I also have skin made of asbestos....0

I don't see why not. There's a pic of me in lycra on here (its not pretty, don't search for it) so just think of it as part of being a fully fledge community memberFCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

My usual winter cycling wear is lycra leggings with a short flared skirt over the top made out of sort of t-shirt type material. I bought a couple of these in Primark for about £4 each. Both girly AND practical.*´¨)

...what do you teach by the way?
The witty answer is obviously "children"
The conversation-killing answer is "German"
And the truth is "foreign languages - a selection thereof"

Swrve make some really nice 3/4's that work well on the bike but are still smart:

You could always wear some liner shorts such as made by Endura or dhb underneath. Plus nice warm long wooly socks if its really cold0
