Survuving Hammersmith Broadway.....

Just a quickie, having changed jobs I now work at the west end on King Street, W6 but commute down Fulham Palace Road.
Getting most of the way down King Street by cycle lane and then what!?!? I can either get on the A4 (not going to happen I value my life) or cut across ped crossings etc (obviously very carefully) and then weave (across 4 lanes of traffic) through the stationary cars @ traffic lights... not much fun.
Do I just run the risk of Hammersmith Broadway itself or is there a cheeky little shortcut?!?!
As always thanks in advance!

Okay, let's see if I can get this right. Take cycle lane down King Street to where it ends, and turn right. This takes you down to a specific bike crossing of the A4 (two crossings). Cross them both, continue straight on, and you get to the north side of Hammy bridge. Cross the main road there and head back towards Hammersmith. The pavement becomes a bike lane on which you can ride, under the flyover, past the church, until you get to the Apollo (I think? The big live music venue) which is on the corner of Fulham Palace Road. Then turn into (or cross like a pedestrian if it's too tricky) Fulham Palace Road and bingo, there you are.
Let me know if this works! My gf lives in Chiswick so I do the King Street --> Hammy Bridge bit several times a week.0 -
Hammersmith broadway is great fun on a bike!!!
Just go for it - Signal clearly and well in advance and be direct, deliberate and forceful you ll be fine, remember the traffic never moves more than 5mph anyway
Can't you go down the road toward Chiswick (is the right direction?) and cut off there somewhere back down toward the A4?
(if ive got you re directions mixed up I'm sorry - I'm crap at road names)We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I went round it for the first time the other day, dunno what all the fuss is about. Unless of course it gets busier than it was at 9am Sunday morning.0

It's getting across lanes in busy traffic, and I know from many year's experience how hurried yet shambolic cars can be there. It's impossible to go round the one way system in only one lane, for example, hugging the inside or the outside; there are a lot of slip roads, lots of distractions, lots of buses, lots of impatience and bad driving.0

well I managed to find a random somewhat irregular junction that took me down to the river and had a lovely ride back tonight!
Only problem being I sometimes don't leave work till late (9pm on occasion) and the broadway can be pretty scary when they aren't expecting cyclists......
I should be sorted from here on in thanks for your input.
P.S If your the angry cyclist who shouted at me at the irregular junction tonight, "SORRY" it was my first time so you could have been more gentle and I really hope you enjoyed the rest of your journey through the broadway you impatient, old buggar......
