The Lighthouse Cycling Tour of Peurto Rico will be taking place in February 2009. This is the perfect escape from the British Winter. 3 Days of riding around the Island of Peurto Rico. Great Hospitality and a fantasically organised event.

Check out this short video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSmrf8tt2Xk and have a look at the website. http://www.lighthousecyclingtour.com/

So the entry fee is $300, and I have to buy flights and sort my hotel - what kind of total price are we talking here, cos I'm interested but it sounds like it's gonna be double dear for 3 days riding!

It is expensive if you come just for the ride, but why not make it a couple of weeks in the Caribbean. PR has some fantastic riding to be had both Road & MTB.

Not sure how much flights will be from the UK but you can get a direct flight from Madrid on Iberia or fly to Antigua on BA or Virgin from Gatwick and then from Antigua to San Juan on American Airlines or LIAT. Flights only normally to Antigua normally around 500 quid and interisland is normally about 100 quid.

So how exactly does that make it LESS expensive? Rather the opposite I'd have thought....

  • OK, I should have phrased it better. It's better Value for money if you make it part of a longer holiday.

You can get some cracking accomodation deals in Puerto Rico.
