Hi,
I will be leading some group rides over the winter just to get 'some miles in'. These are being run for the Beacon RCC but you are more than welcome to join the group. There will be one ride in early November, December and January followed by the Beacon RCC Sunrise Express Audax in February, finishing with Paul Prince's ]Mad March Hare sportive.
Details about the rides are posted at:

The first ride takes place on Saturday 8th November. I am loathed to call them 'training rides' as training needs to encompass what you do with the rest of your time but they will help you to get in the miles. The group rides will be in groups but you can obviously ride at your preferred on either the audax (within the audax 30kph limit) or as fast as your want on the Mad March Hare.
On the boring side, all riders will be joining the group at their own risk - i.e we are not responsible for your own safety or getting you home. Please bring a map just in case. If you find the pace too fast or slow, you will need to navigate your own way home. Any food stops will at local shops.
Cheerio for now.

A quick reminder about this coming Saturday's ride.
Here are some more details about the speed (now where did I leave my anorak?)
The ride is targeted at silver pace. Lets assume that we have riders aged between 18-39/40-49, we will need to set an average pace that matches a common ground period between both groups.
Here are the figures:
18-39. Completion time between: 4:58:26 and 5:43:11
40-49. Completion time between: 5:16:20 and 6:3:47
Common range time between both groups: 5:16:20 and 5:43:11
In other words the average speed should be within the range of 27.2 & 24.8kmh/16.9mph & 15.4mph. A slightly easy ride for those used to attaining the usual gold standard/fast silver for 18-39 years of age or slightly faster than those used to ride at the slowest silver pace for 40-49 years of age.0
