Didn't think it was condescending either - we are all lucky to be able to pursue our hobby and spend what seems to some people a ridiculous amount on it.

Personally I would go for the Yeti, but I have never ridden either so what do I know.

    Nowt wrong with the post.

    After 3 months of demo's (~15 in all) I ordered my 575 on Sunday. The build spec I've gone for is;
Frame - Yeti 575 XL sliver
    Fork - Fox TALAS 150mm qr15
    Headset - king
    Wheelset - Hope hoops 4.2
    Tyres - Bont Jacks's
    Chainset - XTR
    Cassette - XT
    Chain - sram 971
    F/Mech - XT
    R/Mech - XTR shadow/carbon cage
    Shifters - XT
    Brakes - XT 180/160
    Stem - Thomson
Bars - Easton EC90 HI rise
    Seatpost - Thomson
    Saddle - Fi-zik Gobi xm
    Grips - YETI lock on

I must say the 5 was the closest second but was omitted due to 20" was the largest they did, the XL 575 is 21.5. I really really wanted the orange to be right but felt it too small and the only way to put the power down was to have the seat stupidly high, that was until I tried the Yeti, the term buttery plush is oh so true. Very happy with my build plan. By using a work discount sheme from frame and forks and CRC/Merlin for the groupset it comes in about 2900 at 27 lbs.

The Yeti every time - I've always wanted one. And a Cannondale. And a San Andreas. And an Ellsworth. And a...

I'd go for the 5 but I'm biased because I have one.

The best thing to do is to try out both.

    WHOA there Simon,

Sorry, I had absolutely no intention of sounding condescending at all.

I am genuine in my interest of these two fabulous bikes. I was invited to see a near built 575 at my LBS yesterday and it blew me away. Having already been keen on an Orange 5, I was interested to throw the choice open, to read some of your reasons behind your purchases.

Did not intend to upset anyone as some of the other replies show.

Thanks for your responses, any more?

At the mo, I leaning more towards the 575 and am going for another look at it tomorrow!

    Cheers
    Mark.
