Kona Dawg 08 - anyone got one?

Previously I Have been looking for a hardtail in the £1k range.

Spent all weekend at Glentress and Innerleithen and now fancy a full sus. I appreciate from countless threads that £1k doesn't get you much of an FS bike. However, my friendly local bike shop has an 08 Kona Dawg, my size ( 19") which they'll do for £900. I think this looks a great deal.

I know this bike has won awards and is generally well reviewed but I just wondered if anyone here actually owns one?

Other ( non Kona) bike shops have told me that Kona are a bit overpriced, not the most innovative, quite heavy and not the best spec for the money. Some reviews go along with this but sugest that there's magic in how they ride.

I don't have one but I really do think they're odd looking bikes - never liked the look of them from some reason.

They must be fairly sturdy though, as there are a couple of trail centres that I've been to that use them in their hire fleet (Glentress & Laggan). I did have one for the day at Laggan (A Dawg Supreme, I think it was) and I wasn't overly impressed with it. It was better spec'd than my Reign, with Fox forks & everything, but I would have the Reign any day of the week (might be because I was used to my own bike though).
