We have just moved house, so I haven't been out on the bike for 6 weeks. Saturday morning was free, so I set off in heavy mist, the sort that makes you wet without it actually raining. At the top of a 300 m climb, feeling cold and wet, I came around a corner and was suddenly above the cloud

Not the best bit of photography, only had the phone camera, so it may have lost the wow factor, but it took my breath away. Maybe that was the last half km of the hill at 17% though.

    Yes, that is lovely.

Obviously we are a bit short of big mountains in Yorkshire, but when I went out on my bike yesterday I had a view like that, only in miniature. I wished that I'd had a camera with me. I was 1,000 ft up looking down into the valleys below and there was a hazy mist in the distance. The trees looked spectacular in their autumn colours.

This is why I plan to tour in the coming year, I have got to get to places like this to see the world :)

Stunning! I had a view like that back in spring in Snowdonia, mist in the valleys and sunshine on the mountain tops - I had the same thought, "this is why I cycle". Had my camera but a little photo didn't do it justice (they never do).
  • It's also why I climb mountains.

    Nice!

I went for a ride through Ashdown Forest last weekend. Braving the initial cold and fog was rewarded with stunning views and beautiful autumnal colours. Despite working for a bank, for just a couple of hours, all was well with the world...

    Where was the photo taken?

It looks amazing, though photos never quite capture the view

I was cycling this route http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/The-best-views-in-Basel The photo was taken halfway between Grindel and Erschwil, about 30 miles from Basel on the edge of the Swiss Jura looking towards Passwang. Aren't I a lucky sod. :D
