Does anyone have any info/history on Townsend bikes?
I've just bought a Townsend Corsican 531 framed road bike on eBay, and I'd like to know a bit about them. I'm planning to do some training on it over winter, then stick a rack and guards on it and use it for a little tour next summer.
From the little I can gather on't internet, Townsend were part of (and still are) Falcon bikes. They only seem to be branded on horrible kids bikes and cheap suspension MTBs these days, but I presume they used to make decent bikes.
I'll post some pics of the new bike when I get it. If anyone could roughly date the frame that would be cool.
Thanks.

To be honest I only ever remember Townsend from Christmas catalogues such as Littlewoods or Grattan. I don't think they've ever been a noted maker of decent bikes. Falcon made some good stuff in their day, but I suspect, as happens these days, that the name got sold off.0

They started off in the late 1800s or early 1900s as Townsend Bros. of Coventry.Bikes, saddles and stuff
