Checking rear suspension travel

Been out for the first ride on my Stumpy today. The rubber ring that shows the furthest the shock has travelled is approximately 1 cm off falling off the shock cylinder. ITs a Fox triad by the way.

Is this roughly full travel or have I got too much air in it?

how is the sag? if that is right then you have the air right.

Sounds like pretty much full travel. If you really want to check max travel depressuirse the shock and let it compress under the weight of the rear triangle. For setup use sag as Nick says.

Whether you get full travel or not will also depend on riding style and where you're riding. I don't bottom out very often but think the shock is setup right for my weight based on sag (I also have a Fox Triad on an 07 Stumpy).
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
