    OKAY..................

Back on topic. Visiting the olds to pick up my kite buggy and a wardrobe and discovered Ilkeston's Tesco has an untouched batch of the 3W Cree supertorch. I bought two, one for me and the other for my father. I now have two, but anyone looking for the seriously bright commuter light sollution and is near Ilkeston in Derbyshire should call in before like Exeter and Newton Abbot they all disappear.

There have been loads of threads about this recently.

Anyway I recommend the Blackburn Quadrant and Mars 3 combo

If anyone says they didnt see you with those on then theyre either blind or lying.

    +1

My only comment would be that if you get the quadrant and you do cycle somewhere really dark (Thames cycle path, or under big trees for example), the extraneous light coming off the top can mean you loose your night vision, and it can also cause flare if you wear glasses...simple solution though, bit of black tape over the top of the lights and you can see again...hurrrah! :D

You can also get extra bracket (when the come in stock) so you can use the same lights if you have more than one bike

I did the same... put a little bit of electrical tape accross the top bit so I dont dazzle myself but I left the sides exposed for obvious reasons.

Bikehut did a light that did the exact same thing (my secondary light) and I used the same hi-tech solution.

I noticed the other day that they've changed the design now and have a solid black top to the light to stop the light bleed into your eyes.

    Good basic light though.

bought the quadrant off ebay via merlin, go figure. no stock in store but the ebay side does. anyway i digress, the light given off is just what i wanted. i use the two flash two steady mode. i dont get too dazzled by the light from the top. thanks for the advice, well worth the money and i feel safer for it.

    Thanks

    Ian
  • re the stock mystery @ Merlin: they have the quadrant alone (on the website and on ebay), but not the combo with the Mars 3.0 (on ebay or the website). So there's plenty of stock if, like this thread seems to assume, we're looking for front lights.

does anyone know where you can get an extra bracket for the quadrant? i can only see them at SJS, but it's sold out / discontinued

My lockblock velcro came apart last night when I took them of the bike at Tesco's. Will attempt to repair with superglue.

Think I might get myself an EL610 plus of teabay - seems like a "proper" light for a reasonable outlay.

Worth having a look at the previous Cateye 610 thread (last month or so). I have had mine for 6 weeks and it is now useless due to the crappy plastic runner breaking

Shame as good amount of light given out

Just made my 4th CRC order in 2 weeks and ordered a mars 3 to supplement my Cateye TL LD120 or the other way round I think.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
