STI Lever playing up

Hi All
My 9 Speed Triple Dura Ace Left Hand lever is playing up. I cannot seem to get it to change from the large chain ring to the middle chain ring without it jumping onto the Granny. It is also a bit stiff when changing from the big ring. It seems to me that it jumps two clicks instead of one (if that makes sense) I have tried to adjust the cable tension but no success. I have also changed the cable as well as WD40 the whole STI. It is driving me crazy. I have to go from the big chain ring to the granny to the middle ring. or set it up in such a way that I lose the trim on the big chain ring and then suffer the chain rubbing on the rear derailleur. The levers had not really done many miles say about 6,000 and it is the left lever which you do not use as much.

Has anybody got any suggestions?

Hi, this is not likely to solve your STI problem but may help to diagnose if the lever is at fault.
Disconnect the cable from the front mech and pull gently on the cable while changing up and down with the gear lever.
This way you have more feel and should be able to tell what is happening as the lever is moved.
Also with the cable disconnected can you move the mech smoothly through it's whole range.
If it is the lever at fault then it will need replacing unfortunately

Not really familiar with durace, but your problem sounds very similar to what i had on my ultegra triple. It was nothing to do with the levers. I fixed it by fiddling around with the rotational angle of the front deraileur , after first having wasted quite a lot of time endlessly fiddling about with cable tensions. A small movement of about 1.5 mm was all it needed to start behaving again.

Thanks Gents. I give them both ago. Feel I think you could be right. I try the front mec at slightly different angles
