Hill Climbs

I notice that the number of competitors in the traditional Yorkshire and Lancashire Hill Climbs seems to be at most 30 people and sometimes is as low as 20. Elsewhere in the country the range is from 50 competitors to 100 in the October climbs.

The difference is more remarkable given that the Yorkshire/Lancashire events attract national standard riders such as James Dobbin or Jim Henderson (who lives up there).

Yorkshire / Lanashire riders used to dominate the National Hill Climb for a long time beginning with the 1950s but that dominance now seems to have been broken.
