If i brought a bike with an 8 speed cassette, when it comes time to replace it can i put a 9 speed one on without too much faff?
I know the chain will need to be changed but will the rear hub also need to changed?
Thanks

hubs are the same.
new chain, shifter and maybe chain rings/jockey wheels to go with the cassette."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

depends on if you have the tools and you can reset gears."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Probably be cheaper and easier to get a 9 speed to start with!0
