BeOne?

G'day folks!

Age old questions once again I'm afraid....

How good are BeOne bikes, generally speaking? The reason I ask is that I am considering purchasing one of these:

The BeOne Karma Ltd Carbon. Having not heard of them prior to coming across this particular bike I thought it a wise move to get a general consensus. Any one had any dealings with BeOne or this particular model?

If anyone has any suggestions to a good alternative then I would be very interested to hear them. I ride mostly XC, 10 mile commute to work and back (all off road) every day, with more adventurous/fun rides at the weekends. My budget is a pretty rigid £1600.

I realise that I need to get to a few bike shops to try some out, but I would like to be prepared before I do so I can make a reasonable educated decision.

Many thanks in advance...

Neil.

I bought a BeOne Drone last year, was very good for the money, light frame. Some I have seen are not so good: poorer value. And that is all you can go on really, as will be hard to try out.
  • Many thanks for your reply.

Any suggestions on how I could better spend the money?

The spec is amazing, I will give you that! But trying a couple of carbon framed bikes out would be advantageous. Scott Scale series?
  • Isn't it!

The weight is pretty impressive too! But having an engineering background I cant help but feel mildly suspicious about a carbon frame from relatively unknown manufacturer. Maybe I am just being a little paranoid??!!?? :D

It's funny you should mention Scott. I have also been considering the Scale 35, a very similarly spec'd bike. Being a little cheaper and with the only downside I can see being that it's half a kg heavier (not that I'd EVER notice!) it is certainly an attractive, better known, alternative.

BeOne did a carbon version of the frame I bought last year - raced by the team. Not heard of any problems.

Carbon seems to be a lot better nowdays on MTBs.

Another option is the Carbon Zaskar, designed to be tougher and not just an XC racer. However I am not impressed with the value of them compared to the Scotts (even though the Zaskar frame costs less than the Scale frame!)
  • Many thanks once again! I'll have a look at the GT.
