What is the best bike insurance deal?

My Home Insurance is up for renewal next month. I currently pay £200 a year for my main 4 bikes, on top of £220 for building and contents. I will be getting a Brompton in the next couple of weeks as well. The Insurance I have with LV is good for the home and contents but not cheap for the bikes.

I used to have good bike insurance on my More Than home insurance - it covered all bikes up to a named value. However the building and contents policy was extortionate. The Bike insurance covered the whole fleet. I currently have not insured the kids bikes, trailers etc, as insuring them is too expensive. Having said that I’ve not had a bike nicked for about 12 years, but figure the Brompton will be very attractive to thieves – although I don’t plan on leaving it outside much.

What is the best policy for a fleet owner such as me?

I appreciate all advice.

As has been said many times before, M&S home and contents covers multiple bikes for up to £4,000 each. The actual insurance might cost more than others so you'd have to do your sums to see if it was worth it for you.

    I use it.

It might have gone up since I last checked, but it doesn't matter to me since my most expensive bike cost about £1,750. I wouldn't spend more than £4,000 on a bike even if I was a multi-millionaire. I think the law of diminishing returns for racing bikes kicks in hard at about the £1,500 mark. A £3,000 bike would be lovely, a £4,000 bike - great. £5,000... I'd want everything gold-plated for that!
