Help me choose between a Trek 4500 and Scott Aspect 45...

Hello people
I'm looking at spending approx £300 on just the bike. I started looking at a Trek 4300 as this has a good review on this site, but then found that the 4500 had a better fork and gearset for the same price from some places.
But, I've also seen the Scott for £300.
Thing is... the Trek has V brakes but can be upgraded if needed; the Scott has hydros. This will be my first MTB and I'll be using it for light trails, roads and the odd more-foregiving XC.
Is there any point to me having the Scott with it having hydros? I've read that they are a lot of hassle to set up and maintain so against this will i actually benefit from hydros over V brakes?
Finally... I'm 6ft. Will a 19.5" be too big?
Thanks a lot

The Trek 4500 has better shifters and derailleurs (and maybe fork) than the Scott 45
but that's mainly because of the hydro brakes of the Scott.
You probably had V-brakes on your old bike so the question is: Do they were good or you felt like more stopping power is needed?
Size: I don't know. I'm also 6ft but ride 16" hardtail.0 -
The Trek more XC based, and lighter, the Scott slightly more relaxed and hydro brakes, Both top value.0
