Hi guys
Just got my first new bike in years and bought some cheeap mud guards from Halfords with the accessory money.
Question I have is that the front mud guard seems to have to be mounted either on top of or below the gear/brake cables.
Basically I'm wondering which is the correct way. Run the cables between the mud guard and frame (potential trapping of cable/rubbing on frame?) or mud guard between frame and cables (won't guard cables against mud)?

your bike has the gear cables going down the down tube i take it then? yes i'd be careful to mount the guard.
it's common for bikes to have the cables routed on the top tube away from the worse of the grot. what bike do you have?0 -
Hi
Its the Carerra Fury 08.0 -
I have a similar issue with my hardtail (Hardrock)...the gear cables run down underneath the downchoob.
I fitted a crudcatcher, and stuck some rubber strips to the top of it (on the side that doesn't catch crud if you know what i mean), so that it stands a little proud of the downchoob and cannot foul the cables.Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Sounds like a plan, will have to see how that would work on mine.0 -
I get just the slightest possible rub with the crudcatcher raceguard front, on my Kraken (different frame, but has much the same cable runs from the look of it.). It doesn't interfere with the action at all though so I've just left it as it is, at worst the cables'll eat themselves some clearance.Uncompromising extremist0
