lightweight front chain guide

I only have 1 chain ring on the front of my winter hardtail xc bike and am looking for the best way to keep the chain on. I have a spare front mech will this be the best way of keeping it on? no need for a bash guard really but i find it annoying when the chain comes off from the bottom first.
