Morning All

Hope all are cool and groovy :)

A friend is looking for a new all mountain/trail riding full suss bike and has a grand to play with. He was looking at the 2008 Focus Super Bud but Wiggle no longer have his size (medium) and has also looked at the Cube XMS 09 at CRC.

The Cube looks a nice bike but Im not sure about the Epicon rear shock as I dont know that much about them. Can anyone comment on them or offer any suggestions?
Wow great ship man. Looks like a fish, flies like a fish, steers like a cow.

  • Good choice and duly added to the list, cheers Grumsta. As an added bonus its £56 cheaper then Wiggle too :)

My cousin rides a Reign which he always raves about but hadnt considered the Trance.

Trek Fuel EX 6.5 or 5.5.
    Mongoose Canaan Comp.

    Worth a look as well.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

I demoed a Trance X1 and really liked it but it didn't seem to fit me as well as others. Spec looks pretty decent on the X3 for under £900. They seem to have put the blurb for the reign there instead of the trance by accident though. :?
  • We'd had a look at the Mongoose Teocali Comp and Elite on Pauls Cycles, not sure the Canaan is quite his bag though. The Trek lokos very nice, what does it ride like?

    Cannondale Prophet perhaps?
  • The 2008 model looks ok though again I'm dubious of the Rock Shox rear shock which without appearing too snobby seems a bit of a budget option although I do appreciate at this price point you'll have to take a hit somewhere on the spec.

  • Does anyone have either the Teocali Comp or Elite? Both come it at WELL under a grand- seriously considering getting one of these. From some reviews I've read they're similar to I-drive, a bit heavy (only when compared to more expensive bikes though) but great all-rounders.

The Elite looks to have a slightly better value considering the brakes and suspension, but at £600 is there any reason anyone knows why the Comp isn't a steal? I recall the suntour suspension getting a fairly good review on this bike. The rest is all 'good-enough' kit that can be upgraded as things die.

How bout the 2008 Focus super bud.

I love mine if you can find a medium.

But full fox, and xt rear and lx shifters and magura brakes.

Cant go wrong for a grand.

    Got a Teocali Comp.

I reckon it rides pretty well. The suspension is fairly plush and the traction is excellent on climbs.

It climbs better than my hardtail on rooty and loose stuff despite the bit of extra weight.

The brakes are good and the SRAM components work well.

Its got a few nooks an crannies due to the complex rear suspension so cleaning is a bit of a pain compared to a hardtail but I'm sure that's the same with other full sussers.

For the money I don't think you would go too far wrong. :)
    Shot by both sides...
