Quote: The ASA said although Cactus Girl was not under-age, many viewers may have regarded her as being in her early teens.
It said: "We also considered that the combination of her youthful appearance and the reference to her pregnancy meant [the advert] could be interpreted to condone under-age sex and teenage pregnancy."

The Advertising Standards Authority, which received 32 complaints, said the commercials for Oasis fruit drink were "offensive" and "irresponsible"
don't know about offensive and irresponsible, but they should be taken off air for being crap. And whilst they're about it, can they shoot anyone who has appeared in a Halifax ad in the last couple of years. Apart from that **** 'Howard' and this new numpty with the ridiculous hairdo. Pass them on to me, I have an interesting few hours planned with a blowtorch and a pair of pliers.0 -

a huge and bold +1
If I ran a telly channel I would be quite careful as to which adverts my company showed (yes money is money I know, Im just having a rant) There are so many ads that make me reach for the remote and change channel. I have "sugar" loads of channels and the chances of me coming back to your channel in 20 or 30 seconds are very slim. The new MacDonalds ad for the M burger. Christ almighty, if I was paying an advertising agency money and they came up with that ad for me I would tie them up and call singlespeedexplosif and ask him to pop round with his blowtorch and a pair of pliers for a few hours.0 -
Well, the ASA has no sense of humour, we all knew that - but don't make them out to be the bad guys. By issuing the following:
"Because Oasis contained added sugar and the ad suggested water was being rejected by a young girl who drank Oasis as a replacement, we concluded it was irresponsible and could discourage good dietary practice."
they're stopping Coca-Cola peddling more of their brand-disguised cr@p onto us.
On another note, who actually complains about this sort of thing anyway? OK these days you just go to the ASA website - but why do people get so outraged about ostensibly harmless stuff? You have to fill out a pretty lengthy form (in the interests of this thread I had a look), step 5 of which allows you to have a 5000-character rant, in a tiny little box.
I find it hard to understand that people get so upset about this stuff that they actually bother.
Look at me though, I'm getting outraged by what I perceive to be other people's pointless outrage. This can't be healthy. Where will it end?0 -

I actually closed my Halifax account because of this wan8er. I can't be doing with bo11ox adverts!'How can an opinion be bullsh1t?' High Fidelity0 -
Yeah well the general crapness of adverts on telly is due to the HUGE number of clueless halfwits who are now studying media studies at university and then going on to work in advertising because its where the money is.The only talent you need is one for snorting huge amounts of cocaine. The gear changing, helmet wearing fule.

Given the current state of the banking sector and the kerfuffle at HBOS, a smart move and well ahead of your time!

Are you sure that they're not just in advertising 'cause no other sector would touch them with a barge pole?

Oasis fruit drink is in my own opinion great for last resort emergency to fill an empty bottle to get u home. most of the time u would hav already bought an item before u had seen the tv advert. sorry this is all completely random - tho seriously honda adverts r great but id prefer no adverts at all as they are just there to be annoyingly useless.0
