I'm sure this has been discussed a million times but advice please....
My MTB is insured on my house policy. Worth £400 or so. No worries
My road bike isn't, because its replacement value is nearly £2k. I paid £900 for it, and it is a year old. But because the replacement value is over £1k, the household policy won't cover it. Also, it is not insured for a prang therefore and for any damage I (perish the thought) might cause someone else.
Are you guys all insured? And presumably I can't get insured new for old as I bought it second hand... (though I have original full receipt as I bought it from a bike shop owner, so he has passed the frame warranty to me....)

I personally have cycle insurance even though my bike is worth a total of only £300.
More than anything I brought it for the personal liability cover in case of an accident. But having the theft cover is useful. Cycleguard who I cover with arn't the best but they cover for what I need. They also have a 'breakdown' cover as well.Officers don't run, it's undignified and panics the men0 -
I have just joined CTC primarily for the 3rd party insurance cover and legal advice.
BCF offer similar============================================
FCN is minimal as I don't see many bikes on the way to work0 -
My bike is on the household insurance in the event of theft but reading the fine print it's only covered if I keep it in a hardened bunker fastened with anchor-chain to a 5000 lb block of kryptonite.
As it happens I do, but I still expect the fuckers to wriggle out if it does get nicked.
Read the fine print.
Then sleep with your bike, otherwise if you lose it you lose it.This post contains traces of nuts.0 -

Think you are confusing insurance to cover theft or damage with insurance covering your public liability.
The fact the bike isn't covered for theft/ accidental damage doesn't mean you are automatically not covered for 3rd party liability. You need to check terms of your policyWant to know the Spen666 behind the posts?
