Are shimano external bearing bottom brackets compatible with truvativ/sram GXP type bottom brackets? ie can I fit a sram gxp type chainset to a dura ace external BB?

nope. the GXP has different sizes on each end. the axle is stepped.

you may be able to have a spacer made up but i would not bother.

no, just too mean to buy another BB when I change my chainset - but I probably will!
