    Get on the bike: then - fall off, 'bonk' on too-long a ride, have to get off and push it uphill, get abused by motorists, get saddle-sore, freeze in the cold, sweat like an eejit when it warms up, puncture 20 miles out without a repair kit or phone, look longingly at Rapha kit, spend time in Aldi instead, get sucked into Halfords, can't decide between bananas and 'GO' bars, to spd or not to spd.....
    If any of these things happen or cross your mind mid-ride: just ask!

    do not put an egg on a flat surface it might roll off

    wear a helmet if you want otherwise don't
    if you get cold hands put some gloves on
    road rash is to be worn with pride
