Just a brief tale for those of you who can't be bothered to complain....we've all done it
About 6 weeks ago my 23month old Edinburgh cycles Revolution Country (tourer) split its frame one morning. A crack started to squeek on the down tube.
I called them, they said "bring it in" and they sent it to Edinburgh to get it replaced under "lifetime warranty"
4 weeks later I collect it....a mess... new frame scratched, chipped, bars loose, peddals missing etc.... really poor job. I take photos, write a letter and send it off to head office. I'm really narked by this point as the bike had to be totally stripped and rebuilt it was so bad.
Within 24 hours of e-mailing the letter I get a call from a manager, accepting full responsibility and arranging for my full replacement bike to be delivered.
3 days later I turn up with my old bike (minis my decent tyres, seat, and bars that I'd upgraded) and swap it for a brand new one.
Fair play to them, they held their hand up and accepted blame and arranged a full new bike in replacement.
So next time you get crap service, or you feel disgruntled by shoddy workmanship. Write it down, take a photo and send it to the management. You might get a better deal than you expect.

Does this work if the complaint is less specific though? I posted last night about my ongoing saga with Evans http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12588843
I'm going to pass this on to our HR dept to recommend that we don't use Evans for our Ride2Work scheme as quite a few colleagues have complained too... but I doubt the "culture" of Evans will improve any time soon as a result, sadly.0 -
The cable for the rear deraileur (sp?) on my Boardman hadn't been trimmed properly when built so splintered over time and clogged up the shifter. When it eventually snapped I took it into Bikehut who gave me a temporary replacement shifter while it was sorted out under warranty, with a new one being fitted 2 weeks later, all free of charge.
I know that Bikehut sometimes get a bad name but they sorted me out without any issues.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0
