I'll be after some new brake pads soon-ish and was wondering if anyone here had tried both of these brands/compounds?

If so, can you give me your views on how they compare? I'm mainly interested in all-weather/all-round performance.

I've got the Kool Stops on just now. Although they are very very good, hey are disapearing at an alarming rate!!

I prefer the Swissstops, reckon they last longer and perform well. Don't use em on the commuter though; too good for that really!

    Cheers EMD.

How do you rate them in the wet? I did a quick search before posting this thread and a couple of people weren't happy with the way they handled in wet weather.

    Ta.

I've only got the one bike for both commuting and leisure/weekend stuff. I guess that could be touted as a benefit in this case (better brakes on the commuting bike, kind of thing) :)

I have the Kool Stops on the road bike and they are excellent - wouldn't use them commuting because they are soft and would wear too quickly (as EMD says above) on my stop-start route.

The commuter runs standard Shimano inserts which perform perfectly adequately in wet and dry, wear well, and come at a Good price.

I use ashima brake pads now, I used to run clarks but the performance is a bit hit and miss with them. The ashimas are stunning though, worth a look...
