Am racking my brains on what to get the s/o for his 40th.
He has everything you can want re- MTB, enough bikes, enough accesories, he knows how to build and maintain them !!!???

Hmmph!!!!
Any ideas???
ps Purse strings do not extend to anything better than titanium,

  • Thanks for quick reply,

LOL... is that what he told you (or what you believe) - not possible

Seriously... clothing is good but as winter is just about here how about some nice winter goretex boots / gloves or lights.

    Biking holiday?

    Skills course?

I've never met a "man who had everything" in mountain biking. There's always something we need!

    What's your budget?
  • I cannae believe the HOPE salt and pepper pots (this suggestion has won it so far!), is this really what you guys would want for your 40th!!! CRAZY!!!
G-sus I just hope he doesn't catch me on this forum, I know he goes on this site regularly, eek!

    ok to summarise-

    Biking hols-
He goes at least once a year (without me) abroad whether it is off/on road
We have already been to Europe this year, and in a few weeks going to the middle east for a leezurely week cycling!!

    Bikes-
He has 6 , go figure!!

    Skills course-
He, being an old timer, has yet to master the wheelie :O) so will think on that one,

    Re- clothes-
You are kidding me, put it this way, he has more than me  !!

Re- w.e break with luxury accomodation ,etc, ermm thats my choice for me, so ermmm can wait till my bday for that suggestion

    Re- budget
Told you anything over the titanium mark can wait till he is 80

Ideally if money was no object I would get him a Fixie, being the new trend (yes he does venture out onto the road sometimes, but his heart belongs to mtb I'm afraid).

    Re- Lights, goretex etc...
He can make his own lights, has goretex, ooh not spandex though, :o)

KEEP the suggestions rolling in please, all good so far

for my 40th i was just happy to have a good meal with some good friends.

I am building myself a fixie for my 41st (well converting my first MTB to a fixie commuter).

But a skills course might be good as it is strange what you seem to forget over the years...

You could get him a collection of tarty parts for his 6 bikes, they can't all be pimped out with funky anodised parts...

    What about a Tandem MTB

He can then spend more time with both of the Loves of his life

  • Ermm he has already pimped up an old dawes tandem with fat tyres and taken me off road with it.

god methinks i would have a hernia and he would be in heaven if i took that bad boy home, will leave that to you young uns!!

Btw your mate did a good job with the one he has built, G-sus is that a full suspension too?? Hats off to him if it is!!

Unicef. For a surprising ly small amount of money you can pay for vaccinations, pay for water pumps, even buy footballs for the kids. If he has everything why not use the money for kids with nothing?

You'll both feel good for it.

    Job done
  • True true, a very good suggestion and supersedes the salt n peppa pots,
Deffo a winner in my books

    thanx
