Everyone seems to forget that he tested positive for cortisode (or something like that) and then produced a prescription and applied for a historical excemption certificate during the 1999 Tour. For someone who was so meticulous in his preparation, covering all bases, measuring all his meals, planning for every eventually, do you think he'd make such a "Christine Ougohouro" when it came to a medicine that is also a performance enhancing drug? A drug that is/was widespread in cycling.

So did Merckx. He cried to the King of Belgium to get let off his one at the Giro. He still doesn't seem to think he did anything wrong and it's all a terrible mistake. Is this getting anyone anywhere?

A similar situation occurred with Miguel Indurain at one point as well, and lets not forget the problems with "Team GB"

The most vociferous detractors haven't forgotten it and always bring it up. What they have forgotten is that it wasn't a failed test - the traces amounts were well within the legal limits and consistent with a skin cream - four other riders had the same. The odd thing was that he felt he needed to get the back-dated TUE.

(PS I'm no Lance fanboy - a sceptic in fact. But I like the facts to be presented correctly)

What are you trying to say here nathan ?

That he wasnt meticulous ? So by my thinking - he couldnt have doped because doping has to be pretty well organised.

Yeah 9 years is a bit of a late story.
