Had a minor mishap on the way home last night - my rear LED lamp fell off in the middle of busy traffic (my fault, didn't attach it properly  ), and having shed the lid on the bottom and hence its batteries (which I quickly fished out of the road once I realised what had happened and pulled over), the main part was promptly run over by a car before I could retrieve it (no fault of the driver, it was quite small and no way could have stopped in time). However, I still picked it up, and it didn't look too bad, if a bit marked. Put the batteries in and hey presto, it still worked, much to my relief! Bit of very minor attention needed with superglue once I got back home, as certain clip-in bits no longer clipped in, but incredibly, no great damage was done.

Had something similar happen to me a little while ago when I hit poor road surfacing and the vibration made my light work its way free at the back (clipped securely on my cycle bag so you can imagine what state the road was in)
The light survived that as it fell right in the center of the lane so cars wheels went no where near it0 -
I'm always rescuing abandoned bike lights... I've not found a broken one yet!
PS, if they bounce of your bag, glue the clip shut with some springy glue, I find the hi-tac pva type stuff works well. It cant come off by accident, but if you really want to take it of you still can. Plus you never forget it because it is always on your bag!0 -
