Are carbon bars that great for mountain bikes?
I know that if you got bars you should get a head set aswell so you dont crack it. But are they as great as ive heard and does the saving of weight make a diffrece in strength?
Im just not sure if i should buy some as i obviously dont want them to break.

I think you mean get a carbon stem as well - you don't need to.
For what application? Modern carbon is both light, strong and durable.0 -
Yer sorry, its been a long day!
XC it would be used for.
Ive been looking at a zaskar carbon the frame on that amazed me as it still looks strong aswell. But thats a £2k bike so it will be more stronger i guess than a set of £100 bars?0 -
For general XC and trails, most carbon bars will be fine.0

Hi
I owned a pair of fsa carbon riser bars for a bit which developed a nasty crack at the rise, might have only been the lacquer. I now have a pair of carbon ritchey wcs flat bars which are brilliant and I only use a ritchey ali stem.0 -
I've been using some USE Atom bars for years and despite a few diggers they are holding up fine.
I asked USE about the durability of carbon bars and as they said, some people can break a wheelbarrow but if you look after your stuff and check it regularly there is no cause for concern. My previous bars were Ti but TBH there's not much difference - I only changed to carbon bars because they matched the seatpost0
