Not sure where to post this but I just completed my first audax ride after a ten year gap. It was only 118km, but a very hilly ride around the South Shropshire hills. My longest recent ride has only been twenty miles or so. I'm very chuffed and only took a fraction over eight hours! (Others took longer). I even completed it on my full suspension mountain bike with slick tyres!
Apart from my mountain bike I have a Giant OCR which has too high a gear for the hills I had to climb. Is it worthwhile changing the gears on the OCR to a lower range or should I stick to the mountain bike? I'm mechanically competent but is it practical to change chain ring sets and cassettes ( rear derailleur?) on a frequent basis? (I use the OCR on a trainer so would like to keep the high gears)
