clipless foot pain

i have just got a pair of specialized bg comp shoes, on my first spin i had alot of pain in the ball of my left foot it was sorest towards the outside of my foot. any ideas what is causing this?

    Usually this is down to wrong cleat position. However,a s the shoes are new it could be that they need wearing in. Have you tried walking about in them for a couple of hours?? See if they hurt your feet then as that would give some indication as to whether its a shoe or cleat problem. Good luck!

    Be careful you're not overtightening the ratchet strap as well, which is very easy to do. By doing this, you're putting a lot of pressure on the top of your foot and so the foot compensates by trying to lower itself and spread out, leading to foot pain.
    The straighter the line, the faster I go!
