There seems to be an awful lot of riders not bothering with the Worlds this year. Is this usual? Is it because it's an Olympic year? Is it because no-one really cares too much about the Worlds?

Or are the darker reasons...?

    What's new about riders not going to the Worlds?
    End of a long season, course not to their liking, illness, injury or even (Especially with the Italians!) personallity clashes with the rest of the team.
    Go back to any year you chose and you'll find the same
    Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.

    And add in the Olympics too - it has been a long year. Plenty of riders did go though - I dont think its much different from any other year ?
