Hi All,
Which wheels should I be looking at for around £350ish top whack..
Need as light as possible, going on a hardtail which is ridden with both wheels on the ground at all times
Current set are Formula Element discs (which came with the bike) coming in around 2200g - would love a set of Crossmax but know that bank account couldn't take it so have looked at Crosstrails..
Thoughts/advice very welcome
Thanks

Hope XC3 Wheel set are a fairly light set of wheels for around £340, friend of mine had them for a while, really liked them (till he mangled the front one, crashed in to a tree, funnest thing I have ever seen)
The Mavic Crossmax SLR UST 6-Bolt are also light weight at £320 this wheel won every major title in 2006, now that's one for youI didnt do it! I found it broken, honest!0 -
XTR hubs, Stans rims, Sapim spokes.0

thanks guys , Super - i just knew you were gonna come at me with the Stans.. good advice0

And the hubs! Great hubs!
Weight should be:
275 + 145 for the hubs.
355 + 355 for rims.
275g for the spokes
50g for nipples
= a basic wheel weight of:
1455g!!!
Must add rim strips/tape for equvalent weight0 -
thats good.. very good..
is there anywhere on line you'd suggest looking?0 -
try a place called Just Riding Along.0

Yep, have used them a couple of times before - cheers..
ever had a any experience of the fulcrum wheels?0 -
About to! Very close to ordering the Fulcrum Red Metal 5. Looks a good weight and strength for the price. Think the RM3 is a bit much though, actually heavier.0

Fulcrum are an absolute pig for getting spares for IIRC."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

I have heard that too.0

Supersonic: Did you get the Fulcrum RM5s? Would be interested in what you though about them. Thanks.No-one wanted to eat Patagonia Toothfish so they renamed it Chilean Sea Bass and now it's in danger of over fishing!0
