Hi folks, as you can gather I'm fairly new to all this and just wanted some opinions on going tubless. It is woth it in terms of cost, weight and how does it affect ride? I assume you still need to carry spares with you in case you rip a tyre side wall? Does tubeless have its own disadvantges? My bike is a Scott Spark on Mavic rims btw. Cheers.

I've given up on tubeless for now.
Do a search on tubeless 'cos this has been discussed to death already.
The search button is towards the top right, just below your username.
Heres the search page:

keyword: tubeless
catagory: Mountain Bike
It wouldn't let me link to the results for you.0 -
Theres a good article on it here: http://mountainbike.about.com/od/buyers ... _ornot.htm0

Only do it if your going UST!
I have UST tyres and rims on my Orange 5, my mate has a Meta 55 with conventional inner tubes etc and we ride together most times. Since I got my Orange in July, I reckon he's had 6 pinch flats or punctures, I've had none!
I can get my tyres off with just one lever and have manged to get them back on with none! Never had any trouble inflating them, in fact since I added 50mm of Stans solution to each tyre, I've had no issues!0 -
i was riding with a few mates, one of which has converted to tubeless, he has one hell of a job getting them to sit right, and he is forever getting flats. he has had to return to the shop to get the tyres seated more than a few times
i have a conventional setup and no matter how muddy the going is i can still repair and ride off in no more than 10 minutes
i thnk i will stick with inner tubes,0 -
sounds like he's using normal rims and tyres with a conversion kit, which does seem to be troublesome.0
