I'm going nuts

I can't find what stem size the On-one Pompino is.
I have one, but the current stem doesn't say what it is.
I'm not confident that i am attempting to measure it correctly.

I tried the On one site but with no luck I desparately need to find out and am tearing my hair out :(

Any one know?

I don't know the measurement, but if you measure from centre to centre of the two 'eyes' of the stem you'll get the figure you are after.
'07 Langster (dropped one tooth from standard gearing)
'07 Tricross Sport with rack and guards
STUNNING custom 953 Bob Jackson *sigh*
  • Just a thought, I emailed On-one. Brant replied very quickly, (thanks) it is 27.2mm if any one's interested :D

  • BUICK obviously assumed (as I did) that you were asking about the length of the stem. There are three important dimensions for a stem - the bit where it clamps onto the steerer tube, the bit the handlebars clamp in to and the distance between those two.
  • Oops, I forgot the fourth which is the angle of the stem  .

Not that I want to doubt Brant but are you sure 27.2 is correct? The steerer tube is standard 1 1/8th inch which is about 28.6, the bar clamp will be either 1 inch (25.4) if it's an On-One branded stem or 26.0 if it's a Planet-X.
  • He means seat-post.

That would make sense  .
  • well gents, you all seem to be right :D
Graham G you get the milk and cookies!

Dopy here  got his posts mixed with his stems and now feels like a right tit :?
BTW No I don't sit on the bars and it's not a front wheel drive bike
all the stem info's great as well any more technical stuff you know that would be good for me like

I need a clamp. was looking at this
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/31-8mm-polished-a ... 286.c0.m14

it says 31.8 but would that be ok as it's on the outside of the tube?

  • I'm fairly certain its 29.8 for a Pompino!
If you go to their site again, click on Pompino model info, scroll to the bottom, and click on on of the build links you'll be able to see current spec options. :)
  • I think the £399 (100 off) offer was extended to the end of September... Quite tempting for a SS bike, if you like the pale blue frame!

  • Very helpfully the seatpost clamp on my Pompino is marked 29.8. We are talking about seatpost clamps aren't we  ?
