Foot injury

Sunday night, I jumped from a height of about 5ft and fell just a little awkwardly on my right foot. I felt that immediately something towards the outside of my foot was not right. It felt as though something from the top of my little toe and along the side was moving as I limped along. Went into the house and took my shoes off and it was swelling straight away. Thought I had broken a metatarsal, however I could move my toes. Went to A&E at around 10.30, sunday evening (escaped at 3am) and an xray showed that there was no broken bones - Doctor just described it as bruising. Since then, it has been extremely painful to walk on, it is still very swollen prob because, even though I took monday off, I have worked the rest of the week and I have dark bruising across the top of my foot, bruising underneath in the centre and also bruising on the side from my little toe upwards. Thing is, today, even though I have been keeping weight off the outside of my foot, I managed to lean and put all my weight over that side while not thinking. I felt a sharp stabbing pain which felt like something popping and for the rest of the day it has felt like I have a knot in the outside of my foot just above the little toe and really painful.

Don't really want to go to A&E to hang around for 4 hours to be told it is bruising again, not that I can anyway because the Missus is working until 11 and I've got 3 young kids, just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences ?

  • Probably just time mate. I have had similar football injuries that although have no breaks seem to take forever to heal. Its not what you want to here, but rest will probably be the best thing.

Call a local chiropractor and ask if he can check you out. Prob some of the bones might be misaligned and he can put them back in place.

  • Give it a while but if it goes on definitely wait in A&E as you risk making it worse if you're walking on a break or something.
