I'm going on an all-dayer next weekend, off-road in Mid-Wales. I've done it before but some of the climbs are relentless and I really struggled last time. I know what works for me in terms of nutrition but I'd like to know how to adapt my cycling to improve my endurance ?

You won't see an increase in endurance before this weekend. No matter what you do. If you tried too hard you'd probably reverse it for the big day.

I much prefer to keep off the saddle on the climbs. Never let my HR drop below 160bpm. Cover a range of terrains and gradients and get plenty of lactic acid.
  • Including cycling and/or swimming in your weekly routines is a great way to build endurance. I have been trying to cycle (stationary) and that goes ,try and do it more because It just gets soon tired and out breath so quickly so if you have access to a pool I'd really recommend that. It's also low impact so its not hard on your joints.
