Hi,
I have a dual ring set up on my Kona with an external BB and want to run a Blackspire Stinger Chain Tensioner: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=17282

and a MRP XCG: http://www.billys.co.uk/english/group.p ... mr-xcg-sin

my Kona does not have any ISCG mounts so the two components i want to run will have to be BB mounted. How would i fit these components to my BB? and would this effect my ride?
ie because the chain tensioner will be be about 4mm thick will this alter my chain line or will i have to put spacers on the other side?.....help...

Cheers guys n girls

you can use one or the other but not both.

    Look at something else.

  • you really want an e.13 drs for that setup,
  • mmmmm yer was looking at e thirteen but at a hundred pounds a pop i dont think so..... as the blackspires light weight and cost 20 pounds plus i already have a bash ring, i was just looking at other combinations. hundred pounds haha  :?

  • If you intend to keep the bashring then you don't need the MRP skid plate anyway.

Just put the stinger on and you'll be fine.

I run 26T, 36T, bashring and lower dual roller on 2 of my bikes.

No bother with the chain on either.

I can only see the point in the skid plate if you have 3 chainrings and don't require a chainguide. XCG meaning Cross County Gaurd.

Suppose the 36T skid plate may save a little weight over a 36T bashring and it transfers impact forces directly to the frame, keeping your cranks safe.

You could just wait for MRP to bring out the skid plate with lower dual roller guide. They need to get back at E13 so It's only a matter of time

  • cheers hucking fell, good advice.

i think i might swap the Truvativ bashring out for a smaller, lighter one.

saying that Truvativ's 09 bashring line up looks good.

i suppose i wanted the skid plate because i think it would perform better. "skid" sounds bettter than "bash" if you get my meaning.

dual rings do tend to be hard to buy for.

do you have any pictures of your setup?

It maybe looks fatter because the rear wheel is 24".

Got the 26 x 2.7 super tacky (42a) version on the front.
