3 or 4 cross spoke pattern on a DH wheel build?

So the Sunn double track rims and nuke proof hubs arrived a while ago.
There's a bit of a wait for the spokes to do a 3x wheel build... we can possibly do them in 4x now without having to order new spokes...
What is better/stronger for this type of application?

And don't be fooled into thinking that plain-gauge spokes will build a more durable wheel than butted spokes.
Plain gauge might be stronger than butted, but they have less give in them and will fail suddenly. A wheel built with butted spokes has inherent "give" and will provide a more forgiving ride.0
