Please could someone in the know help me with my rim choice, I have decided to invest in some hope pro 2 hubs so i can run new revelation forks with 20mm maxle. I ride trails and some xc, with no masive drops or jumps. does anyone know how strong mavic xm819 ust rims are? I weigh about 14 and a half stone so need some strength!
Any help/advice would be great. Thanks!

the XM 819 will be fine for Xc or trails and will happily take small drops and jumps, providing they are well built - build quality will affect overall strength more that rim choice."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

wow thanks for the quick reply! do you know if bigger tyres would sit well in these rims, I was thinking of mountain king 2.2 or 2.4 ust. cheers0

2.2s will definitely be fine, 2.4s probably will."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

Contis come up narrow anyway, so the 2.4 will be more like a 2.3 or 2.3 - either of which will be fine."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0

I have Hope Pro2 with Mavic 819 and Conti MK2.4 Tubeless, all factory fitted by Orange on my 5. I've had no probs with the rims although the tyres needed 50mm of Stans to seal them fully! I'm not as heavy as you but do ride hard and the wheels are dead straight still!0

i ran pro 2 with 819s and thought they were ace. i ran a set of 2.2 mountian kings and they were fine width wise.
i am a big old unit at 19 odd stone and the wheels didnt budge nder me, mine were from merlin and were bout 280 quid and weiged about 1.9kg for the pair.0 -
Thanks for all the advice, still torn between 819s with pro 2 hubs and hope hoops complete wheels with the larger diameter dt rim. my lbs strongly recommended the wider ones as said the thiner 4.2s would not hold 2.2+ tyres. they also said the complete hope hoop package was better value and would be better made as done by hope. any opinions?0

cant comment on hope,
but merlin are highly regarded wheelbuilders on here, and reasonably priced as well.0
