How to fit rear panniers to a bike with no eyelets
Hi all,
I bought a Focus Cross Expert (2008) a few months ago and love it. However, it doesn't have any seatstay eyelets to fit panniers. I did know this at the time but I'm convinced there's a solution... I just can't find the 'best' option.
The seatstay is 19.4mm diameter and I have a TorTec Expedition Alloy Rear Rack and some Altura Fusion 40 Rear Panniers.
I've been told P-Clips but I've read in other posts that these aren't really all that great.
Could someone please offer some advice as to the best way to get these on my bike.
Thanks

P-clips are basically the only option unfortunately.0

I rode 1500 miles through france with panniers attached with p-clips and a modified seat post clamp... didn't have any problems so i'd go with them.0

Hi all and thanks for your replies. Looks like p-clips are my only option then.
JP1985 - can you tell me what you mean by an elaborated seat post? Be interested to find out how you set it up. What kind of weight were you carrying around France?

I had a rack on my first On One frame and used a 2nd seatclamp to attact the rack to the seat tube. I filed the lip of the seatclamp and slid this seatclamp down the seat tube to the top tube and used a bolt right through the seat clamp.
Wiggle and others sell seatclamps with a drop down tab for rack mounting

Ah ok. Might look into that redvee.
Has anyone tried one of these? Tubus Adapter Set For QR-Axle Mounting
Seems like a strong but perhaps rather frustrating solution (when your back tyre gets a puncture).Focus Cross Expert 20080 -
I used the tubus adapter set and clamp set on my Orbea

Just come back from two weeks cycling around France and didn't have any problems, back tyre punctures do take quite a big longer to deal with though0
