No clue about GI

Hello,

I tend to just ride without bothering about what I eat. I'm lucky that I'm naturally quite slim but often find that my energy stores aren't that great.

I commute to work so get plenty of time in the saddle but really want to do a 50km (or more) event next year.

I therefore feel that my nutrition is holding me back and was wondering if anyone can recommend any decent books/websites that would help me plan some decent pre and apres ride meals to help me on my way?

Cheers
The trail is long and my legs are burning but I can't stop smiling.

Not convinced you need to know an awful lot about GI to eat well, especially if you are not going for elite status.

The general story is to eat complex carbohydrates in the run up to events (the infamous mountain of pasta the night before an event), and to eat simple carbohydrates that your body can access quickly during the event. So, starchy things prior, sweet things during is the simple plan.
