Under the hour (twice) at 80!
Congrats to Dennis Milsom who did a 59:15 on Saturday to become the first 80 year old to beat the hour for a 25 mile time trial!
Not content with that, he apparently went a couple of seconds quicker in another event on Sunday.
I'm sure there are plenty of folks on here of all ages that would love to "beat the hour". (I'm damn sure I couldn't do it at the moment).

that is impressive if not inspiring"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0

Fantastic achievement by Dennis Milsom! Absolutely marvellous to see.
And I see so many threads on here started by people asking "am I too old to get into this sport?................ I'm already in my 30's."

Has he got a nickname? If not he needs one that sounds very tough indeed.0

Asolutely Brilliant. Gives me 30 more years to get from 1.01 to going under!!0

I was there at the turn to watch the TT, brillant conditions for time trialling and he's some athlete to be able to do that.
Carl Saint also broke the trike 25 record at the Stone Wheelers 25
How many other sports can over 80's still be competitive against younger riders???
Hope this link works to the picture of him

My dad worked out that to beat him on vets standard time he'd have to do about a 49 minute 250 -
It took a second or so for me to comprehend this.
Over 25mph . . . . I dream of doing this on a 10mile TT, never mind a 25miler.
Amazing achievement. I need to practice sooooooo much more!Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Theres a guy called Ron Longstaff up here who still races and is over 80 years old.Ron won the veterans road race championship in Austria when he was 70.
What about John Woodburn who still breaks the hour regularly aged 71 theres something inspiring about guys like these.
