Noisy rear cogs

The cogs on the back wheel make a lot of noise, like a tin of nails. Do I need to clean the chain or the cogs or oil it or what?
Cycling, it has it's ups and downs.

    sounds like you need to do many things.

    clean the cables, reset the stop screws and reset the tension.

    have a read how too on parktools.
