Depends on what you want them for, full shin / knee protection? do you ride flats? are they for trail centres / freeride parks / XC?

For someone who rides SPD, wanting comfortable (3 hours plus ride time) knee protection I'd recommend the 661 Kyle Strait pads, I've been really surprised by how comfortable they are.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

661 Kyle's here as well, as above suprisingly comfy. Dont like wearing full length knee and shin pads. I got some, but maybe I'll wear 'em more in winter....

Spent four or five hours today with my 661 Kyle's on, riding XC and Downhill, and forgot I had them on! Very comfy yet give you that protection when needed. I ride flats, but with Five Ten shoes, I rarely slip a pedal! Highly recommended.

I use the 661 Racelites doing hadrcore XC normaly riding 3-4 hours
dont relise you have them on.
Never tried the Kyles are these better in fit and comfort?

I do use elbow pads being normaly riding 20-30 rpm down rough
rooty sections I LOVE ROOT SECTIONS

I wear a Met parachute helmet for this but when riding down/freeride
sections I wear a full helmet and also impotant is a good set of gloves.
Also I wear a Brand X body suit for these too.

I only use full fingered gloves at all times.

Personally I like the Troy Lee Lopes ones because you pull on an elasticated knee thingy and the rest velcro's onto it. Don't even notice you have them one.

The question was regarding Knee/Shin pads, Kyle Straits are technically only knee pads, although they do come a way down the shin.

I ride with those also, and yes very comfy and hardly noticable, although I find quite hot on occasion.
