ah so some 7 time Grand Tour winners are more honest than others? They both stink IMO...but only one gets blamed

    More likely EPO.

    Is Indurain making a comeback?
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

No, but the anti-Lance postings hardly started when he announced his comeback - they were just brought to the fore again.

Indurain was just as likely to have used use blood boosting techniques as Armstrong. However, Indurain was a quiet humble guy, gracious in victory and defeat, and who dealt with others in the peoloton with some largesse, often "giving" away victories he didn't really need. He made a lot of money, retired quietly and wasn't in your face about it. And he wasn't American.

More than likely! During the Festina trial Thomas Davy, who rode with Banesto from 1995 to 1996, testified that there was a medically supervised system of doping at Banesto which was used by all the riders in the team. Also when the 50% heaemocrit limit was introduced testing found that every member of the Banesto team was within a percentage point or so of the limit, a `situation impossible in nature` according to the late ABCC coach Ray Minovi. Armand de Las Cuevas of the Banesto team was also caught transporting large amounts of Epo, testosterone and hormones. See:

David Walsh has also made some well argued comments about the likelihood of someone with Indurain`s physique transforming himself from a Tour also-ran (much like Armstrong) into a rider who could dominate the Tour, beating even specialist climbers. See:

Still, there is a lot more evidence that Armstrong doped his way to his 7 Tour `wins` than has so far come to light about Indurain!

It was a joke! Calm down. I'm au fait enough with the 1990s to understand what powered Indurain to 5 consecutive Tours.

Only because people have done a lot more digging. Why might that be?

As for Walsh - it might be well-argued but that doesn't make it correct. I'd like to see his theories backed up with a bit of science (in reference to his claim that, as Indurain was a big guy, he'd benefit a lot more from epo. As a big guy myself, I'd be very interested to hear if this is right :D )

Yawn! It just gets boring. It was all in the past leave it there; you can't it.

No one is trying to "smear", or at least I hope not.

Indurain worked with Prof Conconi and I have no doubts about his methods.

But the Spaniard didn't blacklist or sue anyone who decided to ask him tough questions. He just did what 90% of the bunch were doing and if it's regrettable, he hasn't built a business empire on a myth or even a whopping lie.
