Hey

Need to buy some lube, now I dont ride in the rain as I have a full suss and not good I here for the parts ect..

I was looking at that purple extreme, is it any good, or can I get just as good with white lightning DRY or something like that.

But If it rains do I have to re-lube, or should it be ok, as I commute everyday.

I know it sounds strange on a full suss, but got it free through cycle to work, got a Focus Super bud, made 2 payments of 13.95 from my cheque, and then I left the company and they told me they did not want it back.

But anyway, looking for good lube, when I leave for work its, dry, but it can change as we all know.

Thanks guys.

Unless I know i'm going to ride in the pouring rain, I use dry lube all the time. The dry lube attracts less trail dust, but you need to wipe the chain clean & re-apply quite regularly, especially after rain, to keep it in good nick.
I find Pedros Extra Dry really good

Ive just swapped over to Finish Line Wet - really good stuff.

As long as you are using a proper chain lube and not WD40/Gt85 etc you should be OK.

Regular care and maintenance of your chain and drivetrain is important, so do look into getting the right product(s) for cleaning and lubing.

    Thanks for that guys.

Might just get a tube of that finish line dry, prob have the price than the purple extreme.

So, to clean just use white spirits and a brush, dry off then lube?

    Thanks again

If you don't ride in the rain you can't be riding much if you live in the UK :)

My thing is if, when I wake up and its dry, I ride.

But coming home might be a different story.

I might need an all round Lube if there is such a thing?
  • my review of purple extreme

I use this or white lightning, year round on my mtb and road bikes.

    Thanks for the review.

The white lightning epic does not have good reviews though, everyone says dirt and gunk sticks to it, and they had to clean and lube after every ride.

Might stick with the purple extreme, or just a normal finish line dry lube.

Oh should I de-grease with white spirits?

And also do I need to lube the full suss links as well, You know were the bike bends, ect, not sure if I said that right as a newbie to full suss.

Thanks again guys, your help is amazing

If most of the miles you are doing is commuting on the road I wouldn't get too hung up on lube types/frequency. In the dry I generally use White Lightning wax stuff or finish line dry, if it's wet and muddy I use finish line wet. On the road bike I use the finish line ceramic stuff. For commuting I'd just stick to dry lube unless it's raining all the time (like August :p ) in which case I'd probably change to wet lube so it lasted longer.

+1 used it for years. Needs frequent application but nothing sticks to it. Great stuff.
