I'm off to the Lakes first thing tomorrow for a couple of days' riding with a friend who lives in Cumbria.

Rather looking forward to taking my bike up some actual mountains for a change.

  • i think that dalby could be looking good or a loop round nid valley could also be good.

Should be heading to the Gower (near Swansea) on Sunday assuming the weather holds.

Supposed to be some natural trails with great views down there.
  • A pootle on the blue and red at Mabie, then back to the cafe for coffee and cake :)

Whoa! CP, your baby should be about normal birth size, by now, then?
My little one was born 2 months prem, too (3lb 4oz). That was 3 years ago, and you wouldn't know it now.
Nappies start to get really nasty from now on though!

    Good luck Matt and Mrs.Matt!

I wish I could get out this w/end, Edale would be nice...

Going to be stripping my GT down and building up my On One Inbred :D:D will need to go out on sunday for a test ride. Nothing really to set-up apart from the disc pads, can't be bothered with these new fangled gear thingies.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • Perfect weekend in store - finished really well in the adventure race today & now have some rock climbing in Northumberland lined up for tomorrow!! Fantastic! :D

Just as well I have Monday off to recover......... 8)

  • Just come back from my first visit to Chicksands today, Was absolutely immense! Would do the 2 hour drive again tomorrow if could still stand up
  • Well I've just come back from a long weekend away and on Friday went up Helvellyn (did the route that was in summer 08 MBR). It was an interesting ride to say the least :?
It started off a nice day and we where expecting the cloud we could see to clear by the time we got up. Well it didn't and as we got half way up we went in it. Most of the time I don't think you could see more than 20 yards.
It was a very strange place to be (like another world). Quite scary at times because you couldn't tell how big the drops where a few feet away on both sides of the trail. It also made it very tricky to tell if we where on the right track still at times.
On the way up the last rocky climb just before the summit my mates fear of heights got the better of him which seemed to spoil the rest of the ride for him.
The drop down to Grisedale Tarn was tough going due to the visibility (and the very large rocks)

Overall I enjoyed the ride but had to do a little to much stop/starting waiting for others to catch up. Would have been much nicer on a clear day but it was one hell of an experience.
Hope things went well Surf
