Slick Road Tyres for a MTB

Hi guys,
I have a Specialized Rockhopper 08, and I'm dying using the stock tyres on the roads! Could someone recommend a highly puncture resistant fast road tyre suitable for my rims? I'm on the stock 26x20s at the moment.
Bike will be for commuting, on road ONLY (Will swap tyres if I'm going on a trail)
Thanks,
t

Try something like the Specialized Nimbus 1.5". I've recently put them on my commuter bike, fairly light, pretty slick but can handle some surface water (can still be scary braking compared to 2.1 MTB tryes though).
Another option is the 1.25 spesh fatboys, completely slick, may not fit all rims, will depend on the rim width (very scary on wet roads). It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
Will I have to change my innertubes as well?0

fatboys. amazing, grippy and insanely fast.
I've only punctured them twice, both times on thin slices of flint. You'll want skinnier inner tubes too. They can be a pain to fit the first couple of times, but they loosen up after a while.0 -
Hmm, they're 1.25's, will they fit my rims? I have 2.0's on at the moment!
Also, any tyre levers you recommend?

Yes they will fit. I've run them on my 719s which i currently run 2.3" tyres on!
I haven't broken a park tyre lever yet, but the metal cored ones are supposed to be better.0 -
Where do you buy your tyres from? I don't know any decent online cycle traders0

evans have them.
I tend to use wiggle and merlin and chainreactions for most stuff, then a few others for more specialised bits.0 -
Got mine from Bikegoo last week, they do the steel core ones at reasonable prices and postage.0

Thanks!
Hopefully looking forward to getting started cyclinginto work properly next week, it's well hard on the stock tyres!0 -

I like the Nimbus tyres from Specialized. I'm not a huge fan of the ultra slick tyres with no water removal capacity at all.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -

I use them.0 -
Or £13.50 a pair on ebay if you collect them. Check out 'davidsbikebits' and several others.0

I use Schwalbe Marathons myself, they're not slick but they're fast and grippy, they'll deal with a bit of dirt/bad road surfaces fairly well too, and kevlar belted. I like 'em, but I've not tried most of the competition so I'm not going to say they're the best out there.Uncompromising extremist0

Lots of people go for the CST corporal's at work.
There fairly priced at £14.99 for the wire bead and kevlar puncture protection.
Plus they have a reflective strip!
